how to make your home cozy for fall
We are beyond blessed here in BC to enjoy all the seasons. As much as I don’t want to say goodbye to the warm sunny days of summer, I am accepting it and looking forward to the coziness of fall.
Pumpkin spice lattes, candles, cozy blankets, a good book, sweaters, autumn wreaths, mums and the leaves changing colour are all things that make this time of year so cozy.
September almost feels more like a new year than January 1st. It’s time to clean the house after the chaos of summer and change things up as we start to feel the temperatures drop!
Here are some ways you can make your home feel cozier this season:
Change your hand soaps and candles to fall scents - think pumpkin, apple pie, etc.
Refresh your front door mat and wreath
Add Mums and pumpkins to your porch
Switch up your throw blankets and pillows on the couch.. adding texture and layers.
Add autumn decor and change the greenery in vases
Make popouri to make your house smell good…coming soon!
List of deep cleaning things to check off your list :
Wash covers on patio furniture, throw blankets, etc
Flip the mattress and deodorize - baking soda and essential oils
Defrost and clean out the freezer
Wash and clean out garbage and compost bins
Clean oven
Clean dishwasher and sanitize
Clean out the fridge
Replace the water filter in the fridge
Check the pantry and spices for expired items and toss
Clean baseboards
Wipe down lights
Kitchen cabinets inside and out
Wipe down walls- post coming on how to mop your walls
Clean in and behind the washer and dryer
Garage cleanout
We hope this sparked some inspiration this fall, and we hope you enjoy making your home cozy and warm just as much as we do. Don’t forget, if you need help getting your house on track, reach out for your FREE consultation for organizing services today.
